It's me again Sugar, are you there? Happy 4th of July!

It is safe to say that after a superb holiday weekend, we the Stinson’s now need to detox from….sugar. White sugar, brown sugar..alllllllll types of sugar but it was tasteful coma-inducing  fun while it lasted!
Hunter is still on recovery mode from pneumonia so we stayed mainly indoors for this holiday. To make up for not being able to have some fun in the sun, we came up with indoor festivities to keep us busy like baking and played with some hunter safe poppers and confetti poppers last night.
We could’ve opened a small 4th of July café this weekend with treats but hunter got to help stir, dip and have fun so it was all good and an added bonus, we were never short on goodies.
Below are some of the goodies we made. We had marshmallow dipped strawberries, cupcake ice cream cones, 4th of July shaped French toast, and hot dog bottle rockets! (You’re supposed to stripe the hot dog bottle rockets with mustard and ketchup, however hunter is on a self proclaimed strict NO sauce policy right now..eh whattya do)

Here is hunter being SUCH a good helper!

Marshmallow dipped strawberries...these didn't last long at all...they had a cotton candy texture with the marshmallow and blue sugar..yummo

Then there were cupcakes......whiiich looked like ice cream cones. My mom used to make these for us when we were little. This was my first time making them for hunter!

ok, so then came breakfast the next morning. (remember i said small 4th of July cafe...seriously) So we had patriotic french toast!

mommy ate the negatives..i decided it was half the fat..

and then for dinner came the grand finale...hot dog bottle rockets!

We took him to the carousel for rides and all I kept thinking with each ride, circle after spinning circle was “please don’t throw up, ...pleasse for the love of almighty, hunter don't throw up!”

waiting our turn at the carousel pointing to the horses! he blends in with the railing!

Notice these are different horses. (no, i did not post the same picture 100 times...like i said, circle after circle, please hunter don't throw up!)

I have noticed that i can catch a picture of hunter finally looking at the camera if i'm quick (like we're talking mad ninja skills quick here) but i CAN NEVER quite get us in a picture together. Here is my evidence.. his poor scrapbook is not lookin good for mommy! lol

i gave up but its ok, daddy got some in later that day...

Then we just let him stretch his legs and walk around..

hunter is strutting his stuff...

pushing the stroller...

and of course riding the escalator..didn't you know that is an entirely different ride!

going up!

coming back down!

After dinner we went outside and played with our poppers, confetti poppers, and American flag paper airplanes. We made Slushy Butter Beer to drink in the heat. (Inspired by Harry Potter’s butterscotch cream soda). It is SO good IF you like sweets. It is rich, decadent, but delicious! We had to make hunter stop and breathe when he first tried it! all you heard was Gulp, gulp, gulp… I asked him if he wanted more butter beer and he replied “beer!” I immediately thought to myself “oooooh no, this poor kid can’t go around asking for beer!” so I then switch tactics, being the super tricky mom that I am, and said “hunter, do you want more butterscotch?” to which my much more clever child responds “Scotch!”……..Dang it ..
I am now trying to think of something he can say that won’t get him kicked out of daycare and us behind bars…just kidding, remember people it is only butterscotch and cream soda we are talking about here.

And last but not least here are some photos of our outdoor fun last night. We had so much fun together, too bad the holiday had to end…I love family time. We hope your 4th was as pleasant! We are sending our love from Texas!

mom and dad at the end of the day! Phew..

look hard! you can see the confetti popping out!

and to top the day off we let him swing a minute and climb the wall. He hasn't got to play on this in weeks...

See ya next time!
